Dr. Anna Hunter is a pediatric gastroenterologist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where she founded and directs the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Her clinical and research interests focus on pediatric IBD, nutrition, the gut microbiome, and noninvasive monitoring strategies, including intestinal ultrasound.

Dr. Hunter is passionate about advancing nutrition education and integrating evidence-based nutrition approaches into pediatric gastrointestinal care. She has led multidisciplinary initiatives focused on whole-child care, patient education, and innovative models for chronic disease management. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in research exploring the relationship between diet, the microbiome, and dysbiosis.

She is also a parent of a child with Crohn’s disease whose diagnosis and diet response inspired nutrition education initiatives.

She completed her medical training at Jagiellonian University Medical School in Krakow, Poland, followed by pediatric research fellowship and residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She also completed a Master in Clinical Research at OHSU and a Master in Bowel Ultrasound at the University of San Raffaele in Milan, Italy.
